Dibbling and dabbling in publicity and print media for years, at last brought Mical J. Roy to launch
MJRoyPR, his own Public Relations Firm. To his peers family and friends, this seemed inevitable seeing
how his passion for writing began in grade school. Mical’s first published work began when he wrote for
the Houston Defender’s ‘Campus Defender’. While a student at Ross Shaw, he found that the art of the
written process solidified his love for print media. Once a student at the prestigious Dan Rather School
of Mass Communications at Sam Houston State University, he majored in Public Relations/Promotions,
and then decided to intern for both the Community Address, a minority news source in Huntsville, TX,
where he worked hard and became a Managing Editor.
His junior year, he was hired by the City of Houston’s Office of the Mayor’s Citizen’s Assistance division,
handling PR matters under the Lee Brown Administration. Once out of college, he worked in the
corporate world, where he earned several contracts writing press releases and marketing for several
churches, a teen magazine, and a non-profit organization on the side.
He then decided to leave the corporate setting, and fully commit to teaching young inner city kids how
to read and write with a sense of passion. Currently in his 3rd year of being a fully certified elementary
and middle school teacher, he has in the last several months, decided to take on the challenge of
running a full fledged PR firm, teach full time and pursue a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
While typical challenges gladly present themselves, the rewards of being able to help clients,
and
students achieve their greatest hearts desires, goes without thought! He is fulfilled beyond recognition,
and it’s the feeling of fulfillment and purpose which has allowed him to continue with vigor!
